Long Time No See.....in such a long time there is a lot to see!

Welcome Bloggers,  sorry we have lacked on an update for a couple of months, but it does not mean we have not been busy.  So much has happened and progress continues.  We have a lot to share from from outside in we have made numerous decisions.....they never seem to stop.  I hope you enjoy this installment.

Our color board,  this is built to show us and the neighborhood what we anticipate the home to look like.  The exterior is a tumbled wood mold brick that is coated in a Lime Putty cement called Slurry.  This exterior treatment dates back centuries to northern Europe ask a means to cover deteriating brick.  The home would be built in brick but bricks of old were brittle in the changing seasons and would crumble the Slurry would be used to patch these areas and over time would eventually cover the entire structure.
We chose a Slate colored shingle roof and ask you to guess which of the trim colors we picked...Left or Right.  Hint...Right is right!

These were important to me, to have traditional masonry built fireplaces and chimneys, but Boy are they big and difficult.  We think they look AWESOME though.  Like the backbone of the home.

The Master Bath Car Wash.  8 heads and at full blast 18.9 Gallons per minute.  Unfortunately with that demand we would run out of hot water in just a few minutes leading to the installation of the dual tankless water heaters.  Not only can we take endless hot showers and baths it saves energy as well.  I will let you know if it was worth it.

Wiring, WHAT wiring.  We elected to do structured wiring all to one central location. Audio, Video, Communication, Ethernet, Security, Cameras, Intercom all Homerun to one area.  Keep your fingers crossed.....we are!

Another attempt at energy efficiency was going with the spray in foam insulation.  Provides an airtight seal and increases the homes structural rigidity.  We just hopes it save us on our bills.

Delivery of sheetrock,  crane guy was good!  Right in window.  The huge Cypress beams are created by hand and hung using no fasteners just large wooden dowels.  They will be stained later.

Almost done with brick and then...

Came the Light!  Our copper roof is complete.

The beginning of the trim work and the exposed old Memphis brick in the Gym/Playroom.

The finished brick and Slurry.  We are thrilled by the way this turned out and love the Old World feel.

The Coat of many Colors that you see is our attempt to pick a palate.  I believe we bought and tested 10 whites, 3 blues, and 2 browns so far.....done NOPE.  The stone going on the fireplace is Oklahoma Brown Brick and each piece is custom shaped on site.  Very happy with this choice.  The subfloor is down and the hardwoods are going in this week.  We have been blessed with excellent crews and craftsmen.  They are really moving along.  Can't wait to share our home with all of you in the near future!  Stay tuned.
